All of the reasons listed. I am a survivor of domestic violence. Having no where to go when refuges are full no money or assistance at the time was hard. Calling the shots police was a 50/50 chance of either being protected or being put into a position of more retribution later. Government housing waiting lists are so lengthy that you cannot simply stay with friends or family for a few weeks or months it’s years. Which means homelessness and children suffer. The Australian Government needs to do better. Police need to be trained to deal with perpetrators as they can talk there way out of situations an unless your trained you just make it worse for the victim.
